Interpretacje Directing Arts Festival returns to Katowice in 2026
The 23rd Interpretacje National Festival of Directing Arts is scheduled to take place from October 17 to 26, 2026. For the first time, Teatr Śląski im. Stanisława Wyspiańskiego will serve as the primary organizer, working in collaboration with the city of Katowice and the Katowice Miasto Ogrodów institution.
The city of Katowice has allocated 1.5 million PLN toward the festival, viewing cultural spending as a key investment. Additionally, the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage has provided 200,000 PLN in financial support. While primarily based in Katowice, the event will expand to Chorzów, where one performance will be hosted at the Teatr Rozrywki.
The festival has introduced its first official motto, 'Prawda jest pomiędzy' (Truth is in between), inspired by director Konrad Swinarski. Program curator Bartosz Cudak noted the motto's relevance to addressing modern social, economic, and political polarizations through engaged theater.
