Inter Milan's Khalaili signing stalls as CONI demands further tests

Inter Milan have reached an agreement with Union Saint‑Gilloise to sign Israeli right‑winger Anan Khalaili for €25 million plus bonuses and a five‑year contract. The transfer cannot be completed because the Italian Olympic Committee’s Institute of Sport Medicine has ordered additional medical examinations, delaying the official registration. The club expects the results of the extra tests between Monday and Tuesday.

If the CONI clearance is not granted, Inter have already identified several fallback options. Primary among them is Strasbourg defender Guela Doué, whose valuation exceeds Khalaili’s fee. Other alternatives mentioned include Fiorentina’s Dodo, Verona’s Rafik Belghali, and Fiorentina’s Dodó, all cited as possible replacements should the primary deal collapse.

The situation highlights Italy’s strict legal framework for athlete medical fitness, which differs from the more player‑driven approaches in England, the United States and Spain. Inter’s market activity remains focused on the Khalaili case, with other targets such as Liverpool midfielder Curtis Jones kept on a watch list but not pursued until the medical issue is resolved.
