Intersemillas opens new R&D center in El Ejido, Spain

Intersemillas has launched a new Research and Development (R&D) center in El Ejido, located in the La Cumbre area of the Tierras de Almería region. This area is a primary hub for greenhouse vegetable production in Spain.

The facility is designed to develop and evaluate commercial varieties and pipeline materials under real growing conditions. This proximity to major production zones is intended to facilitate closer collaboration with growers and industry professionals, thereby accelerating genetic improvement processes and the evaluation of new varieties.

The center is currently conducting trials for the autumn-winter season, focusing on pepper, tomato, and eggplant. These programs assess critical parameters such as yield, fruit quality, disease resistance, and agronomic performance to support the development of future commercial crops.
