Intersport accelerates retail expansion in Germany
Intersport is accelerating its retail expansion in Germany, moving faster than originally projected. Alexander von Preen, CEO of Intersport Germany, stated that the company expects to reach its goal of 100 new locations by 2030 ahead of schedule.
In the current fiscal year ending in September, 13 new stores have already opened, surpassing the initial plan of nine. These locations include cities such as Herford, Göttingen, Bochum, Essen, and Nuremberg. Over recent years, the group has opened a total of 56 new shops, including expansions and rebranding efforts.
As Germany’s largest specialist sports retailer group, Intersport comprises approximately 700 dealers with over 1,400 stores nationwide, 420 of which operate under the Intersport brand. The company aims to increase its turnover to approximately six billion euros by the end of the decade, targeting a market share of over 30 percent through new concepts such as premium stores and superstores.
