Intex swimming aid recalled in Turkey due to drowning risk
The Turkish Ministry of Trade has issued a recall for an Intex brand swimming aid due to a significant drowning risk. The product, described as a green and orange car-shaped aid with barcode 6941057455860, was found to violate safety standards TS EN 13138-3 regarding design and the avoidance of resemblance to water toys.
The identified risk involves the mechanical obstruction of airflow to the lungs, which can lead to drowning. Following a decision by the Ege Customs and Foreign Trade Regional Directorate, authorities will prevent the product from being placed on the market, initiate a recall, and impose administrative fines. The company is also required to submit a corrective action plan.
Under Law No. 7223 on Product Safety and Technical Regulations, consumers who purchased the item are entitled to one of three options: having the safety issue resolved, receiving a full refund of the retail price at the time of purchase, or exchanging the item for a safe, compliant equivalent.
