INTRANT implements digital fiscalization and sanctions construction firms
The National Institute of Transit and Land Transportation (INTRANT) in the Dominican Republic has announced the implementation of a digital fiscalization system to modernize traffic violation enforcement. Director Juan Manuel Méndez clarified that this initiative is not a 'photomulta' (automated camera-based fine) system, but rather a tool to replace traditional paper tickets with electronic devices like tablets. This system will allow agents to perform in-person inspections and digitally verify vehicle plates, licenses, and registration data to reduce human error and illegible handwriting.
In a separate enforcement action, INTRANT sanctioned 15 construction companies in the Greater Santo Domingo area, including sectors such as Piantini, Naco, and Alma Rosa. The companies were penalized for obstructing public roads by discharging concrete and other materials directly onto the streets, violating Law 63-17. These operations aim to ensure road safety and mobility by enforcing regulations regarding proper signaling and the immediate removal of construction debris.
