Intrepid Travel and One Stone Asia Pacific adopt new B Corp standards
Intrepid Travel and One Stone Asia Pacific have become early adopters of B Lab’s new Version 2 (V2) global standards for B Corp Certification. These updated standards represent a significant shift from the previous points-based assessment to a model featuring mandatory performance requirements across seven impact topics, including climate action, human rights, and diversity and inclusion.
Intrepid Travel’s certification encompasses 93 entities across 94 countries, including its Stay Intrepid accommodation properties in Australia and Morocco. CEO James Thornton noted that the new standards set a higher bar for accountability and continuous improvement. The certification arrives ahead of the European Union’s Empowering Consumers for the Green Transition Directive, which aims to prevent greenwashing.
One Stone Asia Pacific, a sustainability advisory firm, also transitioned to the new standards. CEO Andrea Spencer-Cooke stated that the rigorous requirements challenge businesses to improve. The firm has previously worked with Intrepid Travel to develop purpose strategies and prepare for these updated certification criteria.
