Intrepid Travel reports surge in walking and trekking demand
Intrepid Travel is experiencing significant growth in its walking and trekking category, which has increased by 16% year-over-year. Demand for the company’s top five adventure itineraries has risen by 64%, with specific treks seeing even higher growth, such as Colombia’s Lost City Trek, which is up 111%, and Kilimanjaro trips, which have grown by more than 60%.
Consumer research conducted by the company across the U.S., U.K., Canada, and Australia indicates that travelers are increasingly seeking experiences guided by local experts and those that provide a positive impact on local communities. Leigh Barnes, president of Intrepid Travel North America, noted that the perception of adventure travel is shifting, with a wider range of fitness levels now participating in these activities.
Additionally, the company’s Premium travel range grew 19% year-on-year in 2025. To capitalize on travel interest, Intrepid has announced an annual Black Friday sale running from November 12 to December 4, offering up to 20% savings on various small-group adventures worldwide.
