Intrepid Travel reveals top 10 emerging destinations for 2027

Intrepid Travel, in collaboration with forecasting agency Globetrender, has released its ‘Not Hot List’ for 2027. The list identifies ten lesser-visited destinations poised for sustainable tourism growth, focusing on locations with sufficient infrastructure that have not yet reached mass-tourism levels.

Kenya’s Samburu National Reserve holds the top position, offering a quieter alternative to the Maasai Mara with unique wildlife such as the Grevy’s zebra and gerenuk. The Georgian mountain town of Mestia is ranked second, highlighted by its UNESCO-listed surroundings and improved access for hiking and skiing.

In Europe, the Latvian coastal city of Liepāja was also selected. Described as the ‘Baltic Mediterranean’, Liepāja’s inclusion is supported by its upcoming status as a European Capital of Culture in 2027, which is expected to host over 500 cultural events.
