Intuitive Machines acquires Goonhilly, COMSAT and launches $500M stock offering

Intuitive Machines Inc. completed the acquisition of Goonhilly Earth Station Limited and COMSAT LLC, adding deep‑space communication assets in the United Kingdom and the United States to its ground‑station network. The expanded infrastructure will support upcoming lunar and deep‑space missions such as IM‑3 and the Altus‑1 lunar data‑relay satellite, and broadens the company’s civil, commercial and government customer base. CEO Steve Altemus said the deal increases capacity for communications, data transport and positioning services, enabling faster cadence for Moon‑Base and other projects.

Separately, the company filed a securities offering with the U.S. SEC to raise up to $500 million by selling common units of its operating subsidiary. The filing did not disclose price or share count, and the stock fell more than 15% after the announcement. Proceeds are earmarked for research, investments, working capital and possible future acquisitions, providing liquidity for the firm’s expanding space‑infrastructure operations.
