Invap celebrates 50 years of applied science and technology in Argentina

Invap, the Argentine state-owned company specializing in applied research, is celebrating its 50th anniversary. Founded by Conrado Varotto and a group of scientists from the Bariloche Atomic Center, the organization was established to conduct applied science within a public framework that remains responsive to market needs.

Over five decades, Invap has expanded its capabilities to include the construction of satellites, radars, and nuclear reactors. Despite its public nature, the company generates a surplus and exports services to major global powers, providing Argentina with significant standing in international scientific and technical sectors.

Following recent changes in Argentine legislation, the company transitioned from a state society to a single-member corporation, with the province of Río Negro serving as its sole owner.
