Inverclyde welcomes nine sets of twins for new school term

Nine sets of twins are preparing to begin primary school in Inverclyde, an area nicknamed ‘Twinverclyde’ due to its high rate of multiple births. Since 2013, local schools have welcomed 176 sets of twins, averaging 12 sets per year.

At Ardgowan Primary School in Greenock, the siblings gathered for a welcome from the Inverclyde Council ahead of the new term starting on Tuesday, August 18. Councillor Jim Clocherty, the council’s convener of education and communities, noted that the annual photocall serves as a way to showcase the area's refurbished schools and add excitement to the start of the academic year.
