Invest Bangladesh showcases mega projects at UNCTAD forum in Doha
At the World Investment Forum 2026 organized by UNCTAD in Doha, Qatar, Invest Bangladesh presented the nation's significant investment potential to approximately 100 institutional investors and international financiers. The session, titled ‘Invest in Bangladesh: The Billion-Dollar Opportunity Hiding in Plain Sight’, highlighted emerging infrastructure and manufacturing sectors.
Key opportunities presented include large-scale solar power projects on government land, LNG infrastructure, modern ports, free trade zones, and eco-friendly green dockyards. Officials emphasized the country's large young workforce, affordable operational costs, and vast domestic market as long-term advantages.
Ashik Chowdhury, Chairman of Invest Bangladesh, emphasized the need for a coordinated institutional framework to attract international capital, particularly in clean energy. He noted that efforts are underway to reduce administrative complexities and bridge gaps between government agencies to streamline land acquisition and legal approvals. The focus remains on transforming climate commitments into commercially viable projects, including renewable energy for industry and modernizing the national power grid.
