Investigation Continues in Murder of Ride‑Share Driver Matheus Rocha in Pará, Brazil
Matheus Ferreira Rocha, a 22‑year‑old rideshare driver, disappeared on 23 April while traveling to work in the Belém metropolitan area. His body was discovered on 4 May in a shallow grave in the 40 Horas neighbourhood of Ananindeua, Pará, with at least eight gunshot wounds.
His family, led by his mother Isis Ferreira, launched an Instagram page and the #JustiçaPorMatheus campaign to keep the case in the public eye. On 5 August, the Diário do Pará reported that the Polícia Civil do Pará confirmed the homicide investigation remains confidential, with no suspects publicly identified and no timeline for resolution.
The family continues to demand answers and justice while the police investigation proceeds under the jurisdiction of the Delegacia de Homicídios Metropolitana.
