Giorgos Mazonakis death: Toxicology reveals drug cocktail

Toxicological investigations into the death of singer Giorgos Mazonakis have revealed a cocktail of three substances in his system: propofol, midazolam, and flumazenil. The presence of flumazenil, which acts as an antidote to midazolam, suggests that medical intervention may have been attempted following the administration of the sedative.

Mazonakis collapsed during a plasmapheresis procedure at a private medical facility in Kolonaki. Authorities are currently investigating two doctors who are in custody on charges of manslaughter with potential intent. The investigation has expanded to a second facility on Patriarchou Ioakeim Street, which was reportedly used for wellness and sleep therapy services.

Final toxicology and histological results from the University of Thessaloniki are expected early next week. These findings will be crucial in determining the exact cause of death and whether the combination of drugs caused a fatal cardiac event. The family has also engaged private forensic experts to conduct independent analyses.
