Investigation into Tuncay Sonel reveals alleged misconduct in Gülistan Doku case

New developments have emerged in the investigation regarding the 2020 disappearance of Gülistan Doku in Tunceli. According to Ali Çimen, the lawyer for the Doku family, an expert report has confirmed that an individual identified as B. D. A. in correspondence is the same person depicted in a photograph showing signs of physical abuse.

The investigation includes scrutiny of communications and money transfers between former Tunceli Governor Tuncay Sonel and retired police officer Gökhan Ertok. Documents from the Erzurum Chief Public Prosecutor's Office suggest that Sonel requested Ertok's assistance to identify and take action against a social media user who posted critical content on X (formerly Twitter) in October 2021.

Allegations in the file indicate that following Sonel's request, the user's identity was determined, their home was searched, and digital materials were seized. The correspondence also contains claims regarding the copying of phone data, the use of surveillance devices in a residence, and the temporary detention of the individual.
