Investigation underway after 70-year-old man killed in Neuquén hit-and-run

An investigation is ongoing following the death of 70-year-old Armando Nicolás Quirulef, who was struck by a motorcycle in the Islas Malvinas neighborhood of Neuquén. The incident occurred around 00:35 on Monday, October 5, at the intersection of Catriel and Ruca Choroy streets.

Security camera footage shows Quirulef attempting to cross the street after waiting for passing vehicles when a speeding motorcycle hit him from the right. The impact caused both the victim and the driver to fall, with the motorcycle becoming lodged under a parked red car.

The victim's family has expressed outrage, alleging that the motorcyclist fled the scene. They also claim that several individuals involved in the aftermath attempted to remove the motorcycle and interfered with a local merchant who tried to assist the victim. According to family accounts, a man and a woman arrived in a white Fiat Uno and appeared to signal the motorcyclist to leave.

Prosecutor Guadalupe Inaudi of the Homicide Fiscal Unit is leading the investigation to identify those involved and clarify the events following the collision. The family has called for accountability, questioning why police did not immediately identify the individuals present at the scene.
