Investigations into medical fund irregularities in Dominican Republic and Mexico

In the Dominican Republic, the Colegio Médico Dominicano (CMD) is continuing an investigation into alleged irregularities within the Medical Social Security and Protection Institute (IPPS). CMD President Luis Peña Núñez stated that the process has incorporated new elements that have modified the initial scope of the inquiry. The investigation is being conducted with the assistance of external lawyers and auditors to ensure that, if irregularities are proven, the resources belonging to doctors are recovered.

In Mexico, Cofepris has rejected allegations regarding the alleged diversion of 71.5 million pesos related to the DIGIPRiS sanitary registry digitalization platform. The agency clarified that the amount in question represents two specific contracts with the Instituto Politécnico Nacional (IPN) for the development and operation of the platform. Cofepris asserted that the Auditoría Superior de la Federación (ASF) did not determine a loss to the treasury, and that the technological products resulting from these contracts are verifiable and in active use.
