Investigations launched following deaths of two elderly men in Brazil

Authorities in Brazil are investigating two separate incidents involving the deaths of elderly men.

In Casimiro de Abreu, an elderly man died at the Municipal Hospital Ângela Maria Simões Menezes after arriving in serious condition. His family reported that the emergency entrance was locked with a padlock, forcing the patient's son to break down the door to gain access. While the Municipal Health Secretariat reported damage to the door and an alleged assault on a staff member, police are investigating the incident under hypotheses of misconduct and necessity. It has not been established if the access difficulties contributed to the patient's death.

In Limoeiro de Anadia, Alagoas, an 84-year-old man was found dead near a stream in the Poço Cumprido rural area. The man had gone fishing the previous afternoon and failed to return, prompting a search by relatives. The body was recovered by the Fire Department from a difficult-to-reach location. Police are investigating whether the death was caused by a fall or a sudden medical emergency.
