Investigators return to site of MP Łukasz Litewka's fatal accident
Investigators have returned to the site of the fatal accident involving Polish MP Łukasz Litewka to conduct further measurements and observations. The 36-year-old lawmaker died on April 23, 2026, after being struck by a car while riding a bicycle on Kazimierzowska Street in Dąbrowa Górnicza.
According to the investigation, a 57-year-old driver from Sosnowiec crossed into the opposite lane and collided with Litewka. While the MP suffered severe injuries, he could not be saved despite resuscitation efforts.
The Sosnowiec District Prosecutor's Office is currently awaiting a critical expert report that includes a reconstruction of the event, as well as an analysis of road surfaces, signage, and traffic organization. Prosecutor Bartosz Kilian stated that experts requested additional documents and conducted further studies, which has extended the timeline. The final expert opinion is expected in early October, which will likely lead to a final decision in the proceedings if no objections are raised by the defense.
