Investment strategies focus on diversification and capital protection
Financial experts highlight the importance of risk management through diversification and capital protection mechanisms. In Brazil, the Structured Operations Certificate (COE) in the protected nominal value modality allows investors to access volatile markets like stocks or commodities while ensuring the return of at least 100% of the nominal amount at maturity. However, this does not guarantee real gains against inflation and is subject to specific taxation and maturity requirements.
In Portugal, Mário Brandão, Director of Private Banking at Bison Bank, emphasizes that effective diversification acts like an airbag—it does not prevent market accidents but mitigates damages. He notes that true diversification must span multiple dimensions, including asset classes, sectors, geographies, and currencies, rather than simply holding multiple securities within the same sector or region.
