Investment strategies of millionaires reveal conservative portfolio trends

A study by the National Bureau of Economic Research analyzing the investment decisions of over 1,000 wealthy individuals with assets exceeding $1 million reveals distinct differences in capital allocation compared to average earners.

While non-millionaires often prioritize retirement security and emergency cash reserves, millionaires tend to focus on professional advisory services, long-term horizons, and personal experience. Despite a perception of high risk-taking, the study suggests millionaire portfolios are relatively conservative. On average, these portfolios consist of 53.3% stocks, 20.1% financial instruments, 5.9% real estate, and 4.1% government bonds.

Nicholas Colas, co-founder of DataTrek Research, noted that these portfolios are significantly more conservative than previously assumed.
