Arsakeio Stoa reopens in Athens as mixed‑use culinary and retail hub

The historic Megaro Arsakeio in central Athens opened to the public on Monday, 27 July, marking the completion of a €40 million redevelopment. The project, overseen by the Phileducational Company and the operator Legendary Food, transformed the 19th‑century building into a mixed‑use complex that combines gastronomy, culture, a market and educational activities.

The renovated space features a glass‑covered atrium with a large circular communal table, creating an indoor "urban plaza". The STOA AGORA market offers more than 4,000 products from over 300 Greek producers, supported financially by Alpha Bank and Crediabank. The venue is designed to welcome 8,000‑10,000 visitors each day and to revive the Mediterranean tradition of shared dining.

The investment includes €22 million from Legendary Food and €18 million from tenant operators, with additional financing from the banks. The redevelopment, initiated in 2019, aims to stimulate the surrounding district of Omonia‑Stadiou‑University and to serve as a new urban landmark for Athens.
