Investors Favor Gold and Government Bonds to Stabilize Portfolios

Wealthy investors continue to keep gold in their holdings, citing its ability to diversify risk and protect wealth during market turbulence and inflationary periods. Analysts note that gold often moves independently of stocks and bonds, providing a hedge that helps preserve the overall value of a portfolio.

In Indonesia, the pension‑fund manager AXA Mandiri reported a significant shift toward low‑risk assets, increasing its allocation to Indonesian government securities (SBN) by 14.49% year‑on‑year to IDR 159.17 trillion while cutting exposure to equities by 26.54% to IDR 17.85 trillion. Chief Investment Officer Erika Marthalina explained that SBNs offer a competitive return with a lower risk profile, aligning with the long‑term objectives of pension participants. The fund’s strategy emphasizes ongoing diversification and periodic rebalancing in response to market conditions.
