Invictus Energy awards SLB contract for Zimbabwe drilling

Musuma-1 exploration well Cabora Bassa Basin oil and gas exploration drilling services contract energy infrastructure

Invictus Energy has awarded a drilling and well services contract to SLB for the Musuma-1 exploration well at the Cabora Bassa Project in northern Zimbabwe. The agreement, formalized at the Angola Oil & Gas 2026 Conference, aims to test a material independent exploration target within the Eastern Margin exploration play.

Drilling is currently scheduled to begin in November 2026. In preparation, construction of the Musuma-1 wellpad, access roads, and supporting civil infrastructure is advancing. Additionally, maintenance and readiness work has commenced on Rig 202 ahead of its mobilization to the site.

The partnership is expected to support the development of Zimbabwe’s domestic oil and gas industry by building technical capacity and creating opportunities for local workers and businesses through the transfer of expertise and local contracting.
