Invisible Exhibition Reopens in Budapest

The Invisible Exhibition in Budapest reopened to the public on July 8, offering visitors a fully darkened experience guided by visually impaired staff. Participants navigate everyday scenarios using sound, scent, touch and interaction with others, aiming to convey what it feels like to be blind and to foster empathy between sighted and visually impaired people.

Organiser Juhász Zsolt emphasised that the project seeks to break down conventional roles and build trust beyond visual perception. The exhibition cites World Health Organization data that over 2.2 billion people worldwide live with some form of visual impairment, and Hungarian census figures indicating 270 thousand citizens with disabilities, underscoring the broader social relevance of accessibility and inclusive design.
