IO Interactive delays 007 First Light for Nintendo Switch 2 to March 2027

IO Interactive has announced a third delay for the Nintendo Switch 2 version of 007 First Light, with a new target release date of March 2027. While the game was previously scheduled for the third quarter of 2026, the developer has pushed the date back by nearly a year.

Technical producer Cristina Vega stated that the postponement was not caused by unforeseen problems but was a strategic decision to ensure the game reaches its most polished form. Factors contributing to the delay include the need for the development team to take a break after intense workloads, as well as requests from the marketing department.

The development team is currently focusing on performance optimization, with a primary goal of achieving a stable 30 FPS on the hardware. To maintain visual quality without drastically reducing NPC counts, the team is utilizing meshlets rendering technology. Developers noted significant progress in visual fidelity and performance during recent builds compared to earlier footage.
