IO Interactive’s 007 First Light surpasses 4 million sales

IO Interactive has announced that its James Bond origin story, ‘007 First Light’, has surpassed 4 million copies sold worldwide within three months of its May 2026 release. The title has been a major commercial success on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S, ranking as one of the fastest-selling games of the year.

Following this milestone, the studio has released a ‘Year One’ roadmap. Planned updates include a ‘New Game+’ mode, tactical simulation challenges, and a new mission featuring the character Bawma, portrayed by musician Lenny Kravitz. The studio also plans to expand the game’s technical capabilities with path tracing support on PC.

While the future of the franchise was previously subject to uncertainty following Amazon’s acquisition of the IP, Amazon Game Studios executives have indicated that a sequel involving IO Interactive is a realistic possibility. Additionally, a version for the Nintendo Switch 2 is expected to launch later in 2026, which is anticipated to further boost sales figures.
