Amazon assumes publishing control of James Bond video games

Amazon Gaming’s general manager Jeff Gattis confirmed that future James Bond video games will be published by Amazon Game Studios in partnership with MGM, after Amazon’s 2025 acquisition of MGM gave it full intellectual‑property rights to the Bond franchise. The arrangement follows the successful launch of 007 First Light, developed by Denmark’s IO Interactive, which sold more than 1.5 million copies and generated roughly $150 million in revenue within its first week. Gattis noted that Amazon did not develop First Light because the IP purchase occurred after the game’s development deal was signed, but the company now holds the rights to any sequels. While IO Interactive may continue to develop future titles, Amazon will act as the publisher and will integrate the games with its Prime Video and other media projects. The shift marks a major strategic move by Amazon to expand its entertainment portfolio and to control a globally recognised franchise across games, film and television.
