Ioana Hategan awarded Austrian Order of Merit

Ioana Hategan, a lawyer from Timișoara and representative of the Hategan Foundation, has been awarded the Order of Merit by the President of Austria, Alexander Van der Bellen. The distinction recognizes her efforts in strengthening relations between Austria and Romania.

The award was presented by the Austrian Ambassador to Bucharest, Ulla Krauss-Nussbaumer, during the Austrian Culture Days celebrations in Arad. A primary reason for the honor is the Hategan Foundation’s work in promoting bilateral ties, specifically through the organization of the Timișoara Vienna Ball. For 14 years, this event has combined Viennese tradition with charitable initiatives to support children in western Romania.

Hategan noted that while her law firm has served German-speaking companies for over 22 years, the Vienna Ball holds deep personal and community significance. She expressed that the recognition serves as both an honor and a responsibility to continue the project alongside the Timișoara community.
