Ioanna Antzouli-Giannopoulos, Cosmos FM Director, passes away

Ioanna Antzouli-Giannopoulos, a prominent figure in the Greek-American community and longtime Director of Operations for Cosmos FM, has passed away at the age of 71. Her death occurred suddenly on August 23 while she was at her summer home in Glyfa, Phthiotis, Greece, coinciding with her birthday.

Born in Lamia and raised in Athens, Antzouli-Giannopoulos immigrated to Brooklyn, New York, in 1973. She established a significant career in Greek-language broadcasting, beginning with the ‘Paralikas Show’ on WEVD before joining the GAEPIS foundation in 2001. She assumed the role of director of operations for Cosmos FM in 2006, where she played a vital role in promoting Greek language, culture, and music within the diaspora.

A funeral service was held on Tuesday, August 25, at the Holy Church of the Holy Anargyroi in Glyfa, attended by family, friends, and representatives from GAEPIS. The Cosmos FM board expressed profound grief, describing her as a ‘beloved member of the GAEPIS–Cosmos FM family’ and a dedicated mentor.
