Ioannina and Heraklion to launch pilot flight connection in November

The Municipality of Ioannina is launching a pilot air connection between Ioannina and Heraklion, Crete, this November. The initiative aims to strengthen regional connectivity and support tourism and economic development.

The first pilot flight is scheduled for Friday, November 20, departing Ioannina at 10:30 and arriving in Heraklion at 11:30. The return flight will depart Heraklion on Sunday, November 22, at 18:15, arriving in Ioannina at 19:15. An Airbus A320 from Aegean Airlines, with a capacity of 174 seats, has been chartered for these flights.

Deputy Mayor of Tourism Christos Tatsis stated that the success of these pilot flights is a critical factor in establishing a permanent route. The project is the result of year-long coordination between the Municipality of Ioannina and various Cretan authorities, including the municipalities of Heraklion and Agios Nikolaos, the Region of Crete, and local tourism and business organizations.
