Ioannina Correctional Facility relocation project advances with new agreement

A programmatic agreement has been signed to advance the relocation of the Ioannina Correctional Facility. The agreement involves the Ministry of Citizen Protection, the Hellenic Corporation of Assets and Participations, and ‘Ktiriakes Ypodomies S.A.’.

The project aims to construct the new General Detention Center for the Epirus Region in the Konitska area of the Ioannina Municipality. The facility will be built on a 100-acre site provided by the Municipality to the Ministry of Citizen Protection. The new center is intended to meet international standards and provide modern infrastructure for the region.

The signed agreement initiates the next phase of implementation, which includes completing necessary studies, obtaining licenses, and conducting tender processes. The project, which has an estimated budget of 40 million euros, is scheduled for auction in the spring of 2027.
