Ioannina holds funeral for pilot killed in Tanagra jet crash

Funeral services were held in Katsika, Ioannina, for Flight Lieutenant Dimitrios Petrou, who died following the crash of an F-4 Phantom fighter jet in Tanagra. The accident occurred during the Athens Flying Week demonstrations.

Petrou was serving as the co-pilot in the aircraft; the pilot, Squadron Leader Ioannis Blessias, also lost his life in the incident. The funeral took place at the Holy Church of Saints Constantine and Helen, attended by family, local residents, and representatives from the military leadership and the Ministry of National Defense.

The service was originally scheduled for earlier in the week but was postponed to allow for the completion of the identification process. Petrou is survived by his wife and daughter.
