Ioannina hosts exhibitions for ESEPHN's 100th anniversary
The Union of Daily Newspaper Journalists of Peloponnese, Epirus and Islands (ESEPΗPN) is celebrating its centenary with a series of commemorative events titled ‘Writing History...’. As the largest geographically spanning union of journalists in Greece, the organization is marking 100 years of service to journalism and society.
An exhibition is currently running at the Epirus Historical Archive Museum in Ioannina, featuring unique items from the ESEPHN Press Museum, which is also celebrating its 70th anniversary. The collection includes historical artifacts related to the journalistic history of Ioannina and the Epirus region. The exhibition was curated by art historian Mimika Christodoulou.
The official inauguration and main event for the centenary are scheduled for October 3, 2026. The initiative aims to document the history of regional press, support the training of new journalists, and foster trust between the media and local communities while addressing the future of journalism in the digital age.
