Ioannina to implement AI and holographic digital tourism system

The Municipality of Ioannina has approved a technical study for an innovative tourism management and promotion system designed to enhance the city's cultural identity through digital technology. With a budget of €191,178.24 funded by the municipality's own resources, the project aims to transform visitor experiences using artificial intelligence and virtual reality.

Key features of the initiative include the creation of digital guides in the form of 3D holograms. These AI-driven guides will interact with visitors in real-time via specialized holographic touchscreens installed at high-traffic locations. The project intends to move beyond traditional information methods, allowing tourists to engage with personalized routes and experience the city's history and cultural heritage through interactive content.
