Ioannina University building reconstruction deadline extended

The reconstruction and energy upgrade of the former University building on Dompoli Street in Ioannina has received a deadline extension. The Municipality of Ioannina's Municipal Committee approved a new completion date of March 9, 2027.

The project, which involves approximately 6,000 square meters, is funded by 12.4 million euros through the ESPA program. The works include structural reinforcement and energy efficiency improvements to transform the long-abandoned building into a modern space for municipal services.

Deputy Mayor Thomas Giotitsas noted that the project is particularly demanding due to the building's decades of neglect and significant structural issues. Beyond construction, additional time and funding will be required for the final equipping of the facilities.
