Ioannis Papazisis withdraws from ‘Anna Karenina’ production

Actor Ioannis Papazisis has withdrawn from the upcoming production of ‘Anna Karenina’ at the Megali Elliniki Ellinismos Foundation Theatre. Papazisis, who was officially announced as part of the cast in July, cited personal reasons for his departure.

The production is a modern adaptation of Leo Tolstoy’s classic, directed by Petros Zoulias for the 2026-2027 season. The cast features Lena Papaligouras in the title role and Yannis Chortekis as Karenin. Following the announcement, the actor’s name was removed from the Foundation’s official website.
