Ioannitsa: Man in critical condition after violent nightclub altercation

A 27-year-old man is in critical condition at Papageorgiou Hospital in Thessaloniki following a violent altercation in Ioannitsa. The incident reportedly began inside a nightclub and escalated outside near a Piraeus Bank branch during the early hours of Saturday.

The victim sustained severe traumatic brain injuries, including two to three skull fractures, after allegedly being punched. His father stated that the young man remains in a state of suppression and is fighting for his life.

A 26-year-old suspect has been placed in pre-trial detention after appearing before an Ioannitsa magistrate. He faces charges of causing serious intentional bodily harm, a felony. While the suspect denied the charges and claimed he had no intention to cause harm, authorities noted the altercation appeared to have been triggered by a trivial matter.
