Ionage secures $1.3 million to expand EV charging software in India
Ionage, a Bengaluru-based electric vehicle (EV) charging technology startup, has secured $1.3 million in pre-Series A funding. The investment round was led by strategic investors and a consortium of senior executives from the energy and infrastructure sectors.
Rather than owning physical hardware, Ionage operates an asset-light software platform designed to improve interoperability within India’s fragmented EV ecosystem. The company aims to act as a shared layer—similar to the Unified Payments Interface (UPI) for banking—allowing drivers to discover, access, and pay for chargers across different operators through a single interface.
The startup intends to use the funds to expand coverage to 100% of active charger networks in India. Ionage currently supports over 25,000 four-wheeler charge points and more than 63 commercial fleets. The company seeks to address challenges regarding charger reliability and the lack of a unified payment and discovery system for drivers.
