Ionity raises EV charging fees across Europe from July 2026

Ionity announced that on 1 July 2026 its fast‑charging prices will increase in several European countries. In France the secondary‑network rate will rise to up to €0.62 per kWh, while the motorway stations remain unchanged. In Germany the direct‑pay rate can reach €0.76 per kWh, representing an average 4 % increase across affected markets.

The hikes apply to charging sessions without an active subscription or to monthly subscriptions started after 13 February 2026. Existing subscription holders keep their previous kWh price, and subscription fees themselves remain unchanged. Ionity cites higher wholesale electricity costs, driven by tighter gas‑electricity market coupling and broader energy‑price pressures linked to recent geopolitical tensions.

Although Ionity says the electricity supplied is sourced from renewables, the company notes that the price of electricity is set by market conditions, not by the energy source. The adjustments aim to offset rising procurement costs while keeping the overall cost increase modest compared with other European markets such as Italy or Ireland.
