IONNA expands EV charging network to 180 US sites

IONNA, an electric vehicle charging network formed by a joint venture of eight major automakers including BMW, GM, Honda, Hyundai, Kia, Mercedes-Benz, Stellantis, and Toyota, has expanded its US footprint to more than 180 live charging sites. This represents a doubling of its network size since the beginning of 2026.

In its first year of eligibility, IONNA earned the top ranking among DC fast charging providers in the JD Power 2026 U.S. Electric Vehicle Experience (EVX) Public Charging Study. A key component of its strategy is the decision to forego a proprietary app, instead integrating with 19 partner platforms such as Presto, ChargeHub, and EV Connect. The network also supports Plug & Charge functionality for Volvo drivers, with upcoming support planned for Toyota and Lexus.

Much of the recent expansion is attributed to a partnership with Circle K, which has brought 40 locations online. To further refine its services, IONNA has established a Driver Advisory Council composed of EV experts to provide input on network performance and future product development.
