Ionna tops J.D. Power U.S. electric vehicle charging experience study
A recent J.D. Power study on the U.S. electric vehicle public charging experience reveals that Ionna, a network supported by manufacturers including BMW, GM, Honda, Hyundai, Kia, Mercedes-Benz, Stellantis, and Toyota, provides the top-rated charging experience.
Mercedes-Benz ranked second, followed by Rivian’s Adventure Network in third. Notably, Tesla ranked fourth, despite its widely used Supercharger network. The study indicates that consumers currently favor charging networks backed by automotive manufacturers over those operated by private enterprises.
Overall satisfaction with DC fast charging has improved, with the industry-wide score rising to 666 out of 1000. Key improvements were noted in charger availability, user security at charging locations, and cost satisfaction. Additionally, the rate of visits where charging could not be completed fell to a record low of 12%. However, satisfaction with slower Level 2 public charging declined due to issues with payment and charging convenience.
