IonQ expands quantum hardware support and pursues cybersecurity acquisition

IonQ has announced a native integration with Open Quantum’s Qrisp, allowing developers to run high-level quantum programs on IonQ hardware without requiring company-specific software tools. This integration is intended to lower adoption barriers for research groups and commercial users testing algorithms in fields such as chemistry, materials science, and finance.

In a separate strategic move, IonQ is acquiring cybersecurity provider Elisity. The acquisition aims to position the company within the evolving cybersecurity landscape as quantum computing advances. However, the move has faced market scrutiny due to potential shareholder dilution. This follows a $2-billion equity offering that includes warrants for 100 million shares, which could increase the total share count by approximately 20% over current levels.
