IOT develops 3D technology for progressive lens manufacturing

Spanish technology firm IOT has developed Light-Form Technology™, a 3D manufacturing system capable of producing complete progressive ophthalmic lenses in seconds using a single flash of light. This volumetric controlled photopolymerization process replaces traditional manufacturing methods that rely on carving and polishing.

Co-founder José Alonso stated that the technology is the result of years of scientific research and represents a milestone for the optical industry by enabling commercial-grade quality through a simplified industrial process. The innovation offers significant environmental benefits: according to IOT, the method eliminates water consumption, reduces energy use by 90%, and decreases waste by 76% compared to conventional techniques.

VisionLab will be the first retailer to bring this technology to the Spanish consumer market. Anne Delmas, General Director of VisionLab, described the advancement as a disruptive development that could change the future of optics.
