Iowa Farmers Discuss Flood Impacts and Weather Challenges

Iowa farmers gathered with state and federal officials at a roundtable near Colfax, Iowa, to address recent flooding that damaged crops in several counties, including Jasper County. In a separate briefing, Secretary Naig described the state’s summer weather, noting that periods of intense heat have stressed crops and livestock while timely rain and cooler nights have helped mitigate damage. He said that despite isolated storm impacts, overall corn pollination and yield potential remain strong, and continued moderate temperatures and rainfall will be crucial through August.
