Iowa football coach Kirk Ferentz focuses team on Michigan matchup

Iowa Hawkeyes head coach Kirk Ferentz is prioritizing team focus ahead of a Big Ten matchup against the Michigan Wolverines, dismissing the relevance of current polls and statistics. Ferentz noted that rankings and the College Football Playoff discussions serve as distractions, particularly during the early stages of the season.

Historically, Iowa’s last victory in Ann Arbor occurred in 2010, when the Hawkeyes defeated Michigan 38-28. In that matchup, quarterback Ricky Stanzi threw for three touchdowns, and the Iowa defense recorded three interceptions. While Michigan outgained Iowa in total yardage during that game, turnovers in the red zone contributed to the Hawkeyes' win.
