Republican nominee Zach Lahn, a farmer backed by the Midwest Agri‑Health Association, is campaigning on a “Make Iowa Healthy Again” platform. He links the cancer crisis to agricultural chemicals and “big pharma,” calling for water‑quality testing, a state Cancer Task Force, and an end to immunity for chemical manufacturers. Lahn has also expressed opposition to mRNA‑based vaccines.

Democratic candidate and state auditor Rob Sand proposes a multi‑pronged plan that includes increased pediatric cancer‑research funding, higher taxes on tobacco and nicotine products, expanded water‑quality monitoring, and reversing Medicaid privatization. Sand emphasized the need for bipartisan support and highlighted the role of vaccines in cancer prevention.
