Iowa high school football players lead statistics after Week 2

Following the conclusion of Week 2 of the Iowa high school football season, several standout players have emerged across various statistical categories.

In the passing game, Mack Murdock of Centerville leads with 787 yards, followed by Tanner Ray of Creston with 729 yards. Notable touchdown leaders include Thomas Ehn of St. Edmond with 11 and Cooper Baumgart of Clarinda with 10.

The running game has seen significant production despite statewide heat warnings. Abe McGill of Woodbury Central recorded 315 rushing yards and four touchdowns on just 16 carries in a victory over West Monona. Davis Tokheim of Des Moines Christian also delivered a strong performance, rushing for 269 yards and three touchdowns. Laken Caves of Alburnett recorded 215 rushing yards and a receiving touchdown, bringing his season total to 504 yards.

In Class 5A action, Henry Smid of Dowling Catholic rushed for 250 yards in a win against Johnston, while Johnston’s Emri Jones contributed 168 yards from scrimmage and two touchdowns.
