Andy Armstead, Superintendent of Estherville Lincoln Central, stated that the school resource officer alerted him to the trend. While some footage appears to be AI-generated, other clips feature individuals in costumes. Although schools in other states have been specifically named in the videos, there have been no direct reports of threats against Iowa schools at this time.

School officials are urging parents and students to report any such content to law enforcement rather than sharing it, noting how quickly such media can reach millions of views.
